sbjr,
I'm sorry to hear that you're having this issue with your Blu-ray player.
If you had a disc in the player while the update was performed, trying removing the disc and powering on and off the unit to see if that helps allow the reset to finalize.
If you haven't already, try to insert a DVD when the front panel of the Blu-ray player says "Load" and there's no signal on the television. In some cases, updating the firmware causes the default settings to go back to a lower resolution. Try connecting your player to your TV with a composite cable (Yellow AV) to see if you're able to get a picture that way. If you are, you can adjust the resolution in the video menu to a higher resolution, and then switch over to the HDMI or component cables.
I have escalated your case number to one of the managers for review, and again I'm terribly sorry to hear that these issues happen to anybody. However, I'd like to see if we can assist with getting your case reviewed.

Hello HDTech,
Thank you for responding, this means alot to me. When I did the update I did it as per Samsung's instructions found on their web site for the "Update Method for USB Flash Drive". I followed the instructions word for word. I would also like to note that there was no interruptions during the installation. I have tried all your suggestions already as read from other forums, nothing works, the unit is stuck on load. I am grateful that you have escalated my case to one of your managers and I hope there will be a resolution for this. Within the last year I have purchased a washer and dryer and refrigerator all Samsung products, the manner in which the Customer Support has dealt with this issue thus far has left me with a feeling of non confidence with Samsung's Support which would in turn will affect my decision on future purchases. I hope that Samsung can remedy this to help restore my confidence with the Samsung name.
I did fail to mention that I have two Transaction #'s I'm not sure if this matters but they are as follows,
1. 2101176588
2. 2101177139
Thank you once again for helping me.

sbjr,
Yes. I wasn't aware that this was an inquiry from Canada. I sent it up earlier this morning to the Canada Service Center.
I have no information on any service issues, unless they choose to inform me of an outcome.
For your inquiry below, different changes in different regions can result in different firmware. For instance, there was a firmware update for Canada users when Netflix went live in Canada, and that change didn't result in a firmware update for the U.S. customers. So the firmware can vary by region.

Dear HDTech,
I just noticed that the American Samsung website has a larger and more recent Firmware update compared to the Canadian website. Should they not be the same. They are for the same model after all. I made screen grabs to document this but please take a look at these links and make note of the release date and file size. The firmware that broke my unit is from the Canadian website
USA
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/BD-P1590/XAC
Canadian
http://www.samsung.com/ca/support/detail/supportPrdDetail.do?menu=SP00&prd_ia_cd=&prd_mdl_cd=BD-P1590/XAC&prd_mdl_name=BD-P1590&srchword=BD-P1590/XAC

Hi,
I have the exact same problem!
Tried to upgrade this morning, and now, the only thing I see on the DVD player is "LOAD". It does not go very far in it's start up procedure, because nothing can be seen on the TV screen.
Help.

You will have to call 1-800-Samsung and if you are lucky they may cover it. For me it has been a real fight but they have offered to do a one time courtousy servivce to the unit. But I have to supply the bill of sale. Befor you call them email me and I will tell you exactly what I had to do.

The customer service is very bad for Samsung and they are confrontational. You most Likly have to speak with the agents supervisor to get any resolution.
P.s be sure to tell them that the failure is do to their firmware update right off the bat. They told me they have not had any cases of this in the past and I am the first one. It's alot of lies once found these forums I saw how much of a problem this actually is.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem. I had a live chat with Samsung without success on Sunday April 3rd. I was asked to open a service request, but so far Samsung did not come back. Many people complain about problems with this upgrade. I hope Samsung comes back with a reasonable offer.
Thanks,
