I am considering to buy a Sony YB: More of AMD?s Brazos E-350 with the MSI X370 and Sony VAIO YB - AnandTech :: Your Source for Hardware Analysis and News as I need an ultraportable laptop and I'd like one with AMD Fusion.
I am from Denmark and the current version they are selling, is only with 2 GB which I would like to upgrade to 4GB and perhaps a SSD.
But which ram will fit into this machine? Every DDR3 ram? And which would you suggest? :-)
Yours sincerely,
svanebjerg.
Reply 1 : Which RAM for Sony YB?
In Hong Kong they are doing a promotion where every user who purchases a VAIO YB gets a free RAM upgrade from 2 GB to 4 GB. From what I see from the RAM packaging, the RAM brand they use is Transcend. Try picking up one of those, they should work.

Brand is not important!! Buy the cheapest from a known brand!
DDR3 is what you need.
DDR3 is what you need.

So 1600mhz RAM would work aswell or? :-)
Reply 4 : Which RAM for Sony YB?
Depends on the processor. I don't think the CPU in vaio yb can support 1600 MHz

Okay, how do I figure out which my processor supports? :-)
Reply 6 : Which RAM for Sony YB?
Yes, buy 1066mhz ram, if it doesn't support it will downclock to 800mhz.

And I advise you to buy 1066 - you can always resell it easier or use it on another PC later. It will work just as 800 on your pc, but will have a higher value in a few months or an year from now.

I'd just like to bring up the point that there was another member here who tried to upgrade from 2GB to 4GB and after trying many, many brands that all weren't compatible with the YB he was forced to ask a computer shop to take a 2GB stick out of another YB and place it in his own. I don't own a YB so I can't confirm this, but it's something to keep in mind.
