How to test Elitebook buying it in retail store

I want to buy HP Elitebook 2540p in retail store, in our place it's possible to test it with software - the notebook consultant promise it to me.



So i need to test it so it will be new, not repaired - is it possible to check it in BIOS or with test?



And i want to test it so there will be no defects, and everything will works good. Because i already have experience with new ProBook with factory defect, and another ProBook that become dead after 6 months.



For this book i need so it will be initially without problems and works perfectly for a long times - it possible only with quality assembly and no factory defects, and i must test it carefully before buy.
