I have had problems with my mac pro restarting it self regularly until it would not start at all . I tried doing a SMC restart on one occasion. I have run disk utilities after any software changes and have blown out dust from inside and removed the hard drives and memory banks to keep it clean inside.
I have been following and posting on apple discussions and it would appear that a number of mac pro Xeon 2.8 early 2008s seem to be having similar problems. Mine is currently in a repair workshop awaiting diagnosis it would appear that some people are having logic board problems.
There seem to be currently more than half a dozen people in apple discussion topic "My Mac Pro spontaneously restarts", I wonder how many more are out there having similar problems with early 2008 mac pros and how soon before it is recognized as a general fault ?
I wait to hear if mine needs a new logic board which seems to be a rather expensive piece of hardware and especially if this only has a usable life of less than three years ?
