confused on being asked to upgrade IE 8 / IE9

I recently bought a laptop with Windows 7 Premium and I keep getting asked to change to Explorer 8 and recently Explorer 9, don't know if I should treat this like a update or is something that they are going to want money so I never click on it, need your advice, please. Thanks Karen

Although Windows 7 should have had IE8 when it was released, the upgrade to IE9 is not required. IE9 came out of beta and was released in it's full release form about a week ago.. Whether you decide to install IE9, or not, it doesn't cost any money, and will probably be required in the future..

It should be possible to stop the IE9 update request by "hiding" the update when performing your next Windows Updates.

Hope this helps.
