Windows Update Error Help

I have just installed Windows 7 64-Bit Professional and updated all of the drivers, no issues there. I ran Window's update and all have been updated successfully. I have two updates remaining and when I attempt to update I get error codes. The two updates are SP1 and IE 9, the error codes shown are 80073701 and 3701. I have ran disc cleanup, renamed the C:WindowsSoftwareDistribution folder and attempted to update again with same error messages. I have downloaded the offline install files and still I have the same error message, can someone please point me in the right direction of the next steps to take to correct this and update Windows?

Forgot to mention I have tried a Hotfix found that states all future windows updates fails and etc. I have also tried a Microsoft Fix It for windows update. I tried the Fix It in the standard mode at first then in Aggressive mode. No Luck.

Try using and then re-apply your SP1 update.

I have found that as well and still no luck. It makes no sense everything updated perfect except those two updates.

Have you used any utility cleaners such as Driver Sweeper? From what I read one of the older versions of that programs can clear c:windowswinsxs; thus preventing SP1 installation

(BTW I have 10 GIG in that folder ...)

Hope this helps, Josea

I have not used any cleaners before trying the updates.

are you trying to install SP1 via the web or from a stand-alone installer?

tried web first then tried stand alone neither work.

Seeing that you ran the System Update Readiness Tool, could you check this log - and post its contents?

Also, if you have the Windows 7 Professional CD, boot from it and run its repair utility.

Everything that I posted, you can find the source here. I just simplified the instructions for your convenience.

Tried installing IE9 separately from SP1?

Um, doing a quick search I came across a site that mentioned language packs...you said you downloaded all the updates but those two won't install. If you don't need the language packs you might want to try removing all of them and try installing SP1 again without the packs. And FWIW I personally would install IE9 first, by itself before doing the SP1 update.

Any other hints/error codes in Event viewer?

When I try to do individually the IE9 doesnt tell me a reason it failed. SP1 tells me this:

-The referenced assembly could not be found
