I recently started developing the White Dot problem and now have about 40 dots on the screen of my DLP TV. I called last Monday Feb 22 and was told it was a recall and under warranty and that they'd setup a in home repair for me. I was sent an email with the repair which said if no one calls to call the service center listed in the email. So I waited a week with no call ever being made before I called the company listed today. They said that they were to busy and had declined my service request. So now I call the 800-SAMSUNG number and they say that my service had been denied by they had rescheduled me to a different company who I should have been contacted by already and they made the mistake of not emailing me. So they then give me the number of this new company. I call them and they then say that my TV is not under the recall so it won't be covered and they quote the price fix between $500 - $700 for parts and labor. They say that my TV isn't under the recall because the number ends in a 6 and not in a 5.
So now I call Samsung back and after awhile on hold the 800-samsung person transfers me to the "executive line" and I'm told after another stint on hold that there is nothing that can be done and I will have to pay for it to be serviced because my warranty ended in 2008!
Does this runaround seem ridiculous to anyone else?!? I was shocked at the customer service of this whole issue. I can understand paying for parts or something but $700! You can buy a new TV for that! I've bought a bulb in the past and understood that, but this is faulty and not good service at all. I guess now my main question is that if I am going to spend $700, why would I ever buy anything from Samsung? My Projection TV of another company that I replaced with this TV never had anything like this in the 7 years I had it. I just wanted to have a HD TV.
